Public Notice to all customers of the Cascade Water Utility

The Cascade Water Utility (Utility) has filed an application with the Public Service Commission
of Wisconsin (Commission) to increase water rates. The total increase in water revenues
requested is $207,248 which will result in an estimated overall rate increase of 201.04 percent
over the water utility’s present revenues and would be implemented in two steps. The proposed
Step 1 increase of $52,558 would take effect upon the issuance of the Final Decision by the
Commission. The overall Step 2 increase of $207,248 is compared to the current rates and is an
additional increase of $154,690 over Step 1 rates. The Utility would implement the remaining
Step 2 increase when the Utility notifies the Commission that it has placed Well No. 3 in service.
If the request is granted, the water bill for an average residential customer with a ⅝-inch or ¾-
inch meter who uses 10,000 gallons of water per quarter will increase from $41.80 to $142.00, or
239.71 percent, after Step 2 has been implemented. The increase is necessary due to a 242.16
percent increase in gross plant investment and a 140.47 percent increase in operating expenses
since the last water conventional rate case was completed in 2016.
